Great Pond Habitat Restoration Project (Southold)

Saturday, September 14 (8 to 11 a.m.)
We are looking for volunteers to assist in the Great Pond Habitat Restoration Project. One of the few freshwater ponds on the North Fork, Great Pond has become inundated with invasive Common Reed (Phragmites australis) and has resulted in diminished natural habitat for wildlife and native plants. Join the Group, Kenney’s/McCabe’s Beach Civic Association, and other volunteers to help restore Great Pond to its former glory! Opportunities to work in a group or individually on your own time. Participants are recommended to wear water shoes and have the ability to work in rugged environmental conditions.

For more information about the project and to learn about the meeting place, please contact Aaron Virgin at or 631-765-6450 x218.
