- Pitch Pine Cone Collection
Apr 24 Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 3 p.m.
Join Group for the East End and the Town of East Hampton at Edward’s Hole Nature Preserve (meet at Route 114 parking lot) to collect Pitch Pine Cones. These will be sent to NYSDEC’s Saratoga Tree Nursery for seed cleaning and plant propagation. Excess seeds will be banked at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Seed Bank. This partnership will allow for Pitch Pine restoration with genetically native seedlings grown from seed collected at SPB (Southern Pine Beetle) affected locations within the Town, and ensure Pitch Pine remains a dominant tree within our local forests.
